Get to Know Great Lakes Integrative Veterinary Care!

We work to make your animal feel its best.

At Great Lake IVC our philosophy is to restore your pet to their best functioning self. We offer therapies not practiced in traditional medicine such as spinal manipulation (often referred to as chiropractic), cold laser, and acupuncture. Whether it be an injury, alleviating pain from disease, or keeping your athlete in tip top shape, we want to care for your animal. Each appointment entails a comprehensive exam and hands on treatment specific to your animals needs. We'll create a detailed progress plan, defining the goals for your animal. Lastly, we'll discuss the steps to achieve said goals. Our purpose is to work alongside your regular veterinarian to maintain, restore, and improve the overall health of your animal.

Who We Are

Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Jessie Hennessey is the owner and veterinarian of Great Lakes Integrative Veterinary Care. After five years in general practice Dr. Jessie looked for the opportunity to offer more to her patients. Following completion of the Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy course at the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Sturtevant, WI, and passing the College of Animal Chiropractors' International Competency examination, she started Great Lakes Integrative Veterinary Care. Thereafter, she pursued traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, studying acupuncture, herbals and nutrition at the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL. A Michigan native, Dr. Jessie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Ferris State University and is a 2013 graduate of Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. From there she went on to complete a one year equine medicine and surgery internship at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish, WA.  In her spare time Dr. Jessie enjoys running, reading and yoga; skiing and boating with her husband Kyle and hiking with her dog "Emmie Lou".

Spinal Manipulation

(AKA Chiropractic)

This modality is used to find restrictions and subluxations in the musculoskeletal system. When a joint is restricted there is interference of the nervous impulses that control the surrounding soft tissues. This makes for abnormal movement, pain and weakness. Using range of motion exercises, joint mobilization, and low amplitude adjustments, normal joint movement is restored.

Cold Laser Therapy

Companion animals only

Cold laser is a great adjunct treatment to heal wounds, decrease pain from an injury or arthritis, restore blood flow and decrease inflammation to an area that has been injured. Treatments are typically performed every few days for a specified number of treatments.

Acupuncture

Now Offering!

Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Very small, sterile needles are gently placed into known points along the bodies meridian channels to restore proper energy flow. By doing so this allows the body's own healing mechanisms to properly function, aiding in overall health. In addition to dry needling, aqua and electroacupuncture techniques may be used.

The primary patients of Great Lakes IVC include cats, dogs, and horses; however, this list is not exclusive. Companion animals are seen at Litchfield Veterinary Clinic. Farm visits are made to accommodate our larger patients like horses.
